Mental Capacity Training

In response to the Mental Capacity Act 2005 which came into force in October 2007, the Neighbourhood Training and Resource Centre have developed a training package which highlights the fundamental elements of the act and assists candidates to understand and develop the following:

  • Responsibilities of organisations and individual employees for complying with the Mental Capacity Act 2005
  • How to identify where a client has a capacity issue
  • Confidence to tackle capacity issues in accordance with the principles of the Act
  • The shift towards empowerment of the individual
  • Clarifies the position of carers and the protection the Act provides

Clearly, organisations need to ensure that staff at all levels receive the necessary training regarding the Act as well as developing appropriate guidance and procedures (systems and processes).
