Managing Aggression

The Neighbourhood Training and Resource Centre work in partnership with The Art of Fitness Centre (School of Martial Arts) to deliver a one day session, which aims to equip staff with the skills necessary to deal with conflict or aggression at work. The course looks at communication and behaviour; it focuses on self and spacial awareness, as well as defusing and assessing potentially violent behaviour.

The course would be valuable to employees who may deal with difficult enquiries/complaints from members of the public, on a regular basis. The course would also be appropriate for those employees considered being at risk of aggression whilst at work, for example, lone workers in the community and places where people visit.
By the end of the course learners will have been helped to:
  • Become more confident about dealing with violence and aggression
  • Identify types of behaviour and triggers to violent and aggressive behaviour
  • Recognise and understand how their own body language and methods of communication can affect others
  • Realise that defusing and de-escalating situations are by far the best way of dealing with a potentially violent or aggressive situation
