Local Democracy Training

 
The resource centre has developed a new range of workshop sessions specifically designed to inform and provide a greater understanding of the mechanics of local democracy, along with current developments, issues and challenges faced.
 
A New Era for Local Democracy:
The Challenge for Officers of Statutory and Voluntary Organisations
This course runs over 2 days and includes recent developments in Government policy, National/Local Government Concordat, Participatory Budgeting.  This two-day course also covers real life case studies of local leadership, partnership working, democracy and involvement and emphasises the skills necessary for officers to achieve effective community involvement.
 
 
 
A New Era for Local Democracy:
The Challenges for Local People and Local Residents
This is a three-day workshop, which covers structures of government and statutory organisations, partnership arrangements, Local Area Agreements and developments in local democracy.  The course also examines practical issues of effective involvement and real life case studies of community empowerment. 
 
 
 
A New Era for Local Democracy:
The Challenge for Elected Members
This is a one day workshop and is specifically designed for elected members and will inform and discuss with councillors of current developments in local government and examine strategies for effective local leadership and positive engagement with communities.
